COMING SOON: NCI State of the Workforce Cross Population Survey

In February 2027, NCI will launch an NCI State of the Workforce Cross Population Survey to replace the two separate surveys currently used for the IDD and aging/physical disability (AD) systems. The new survey will cover direct care workers across both populations, simplify data collection for states and providers, and help meet Access Rule payment adequacy reporting requirements. HOW TO PREPARE:

1. Make sure your state’s NCI team and DD and AD directors are aware of this change.
2. Connect your DD and AD systems. The IDD and/or AD systems can participate independently, but collaboration is encouraged. Cross-system workforce data is most useful when both participate. Reach out to the NCI team if you would like help connecting

4. Billing for states surveying both IDD and AD populations will be managed via NASDDDS and the state IDD agency. Some states may consider sharing some or all costs. The national team will work with states to support their preferred billing process.
